Shopping
You came for the beach,
but take home the bargins! All TAX FREE!
It's easy to find a special gift for that special person in Lincoln
City, where a wide range of stores and outlets await the year-round
shopper. Everything from rare books to antiques to new fashions
to gourmet foods and beach mementos can be found in our seven-mile
(12 km) long shopping concourse, Highway 101.
Tanger
Outlet Centers has become the largest mall of its kind in the
region, boasting 65 stores, including Liz Claiborne, Old Navy, Eddie
Bauer, and Mikasa. The Outlet Center can be a one-stop holiday shopping
destination, offering a tremendous selection of merchandise: sporting
goods, men's and ladies' apparel, books, toys, shoes, leather goods,
household and kitchen gifts, vitamins, just to name a few. A new
two-story parking garage assures ample parking, and snack shops
can keep the die-hards from going hungry. But to borrow a phrase,
the Tanger Outlet Center is just the beginning.
Lincoln City also boasts a number of specialty stores which add
spice to a gift-buying excursion. A number are clustered in Oceanlake,
a neighborhood from North 10th to North 25th on Highway 101. There
you'll find antique and vintage clothing, teddy bears, presents
for pets, fine jewelry and custom-made guitars, a haven of candles
and wax goods, as well as T-shirts and shells, mineral and gem specimens,
and New Age gifts.
In the Delake neighborhood, near the D River, strollers find kites,
Native American art, salt water taffy and maritime gifts.
Perhaps the most quaint shopping area is Nelscott,
a small region clustered around the intersection of 101 and South
32nd Street. Christmas gifts and ornaments and luscious chocolate
are a few of the treasures found there.
At the north end of town, the Lincoln City Plaza
harbors a gourmet coffee house, distinctive women's clothing, cards
and gifts, and a large craft supply house.
If you're heading south, you can't miss the Taft
neighborhood. There you'll find antiques, "retro" clothing,
surf boards and wetsuits, along with a view of harbor seals and
other residents of Siletz Bay. The breadth of merchandise in Lincoln
City may surprise you. Those who come for a sandy beach weekend
often find they've gotten their holiday shopping done, too.
The Great Oregon Coast Garage Sale, held annually is a great place
for bargains with over 100 sales happening around town on one weekend
each Spring. Check the Calendar of Events for more information.
